AMERIBAG CONTINUES TO THINK PINK WITH THE CAUSE BAG

Co-founder and Executive Vice President Margery Gaffin Honored by Breast Cancer Options

Kingston, NY (October 21, 2010) - AmeriBag’s Co-founder and Executive Vice President, Margery Gaffin, was recently honored by Breast Cancer Options (BCO), the Hudson Valley grassroots organization focusing on Health Advocacy, Support and Education. Breast Cancer Options executive director Hope Nemiroff presented the award for Appreciation of Outstanding and Continuing Commitment to Mrs. Gaffin at their annual fundraiser and luncheon at Wiltwyck Country Club.

Gaffin received information and support from the organization when she was diagnosed and treated for cancer five years ago.  Mrs. Gaffin shared, "When you get a diagnosis of breast cancer you feel powerless and scared. Information is power. Some of the main things Breast Cancer Options provides are information on treatment options, research, and test results. This helps to empower you at a difficult time." She also advised people, “If you know someone who has this diagnosis, don’t let them go through it alone. Show up for them. Hope and BCO showed up for me when I needed it. Now BCO needs your support. They are one of the most under-funded yet worthwhile charities around. Show up for them!”

Nemiroff said, “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Margery and AmeriBag, we are able to provide services to those who need it most, the patients being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.” AmeriBag chose to support Breast Cancer Options at the beginning of 2008. The Kingston-based charity focuses on educating patients on treatment options, advocates for informed patient choice and promotes public awareness regarding cancer risk reduction.
